Eczema
What is Eczema and what are the symptoms? Eczema is a term refering to a group of persistent skin conditions that make your skin inflamed or itchy and usually involves the skin creases. Particularly common in childhood, affecting around 15% of school children in the UK. Whereas only 1 to 2% of adults are affected by Eczema, their condition is often more chronic and severe and can have a profound effect on quality of life.
Eczema has no known specific cause, but triggers can include contact with chemicals, weather conditions, hormone changes, stress or allergic reactions. There is no known cure for Eczema but the right treatment can manage the condition. Once you have eczema, it will flare up from time to time. Therefore, thinking constantly about prevention is your best form of defence. Keeping problem skin well moisturised with a natural, chemical free skin care regime will help prevent flare-ups and decrease frequency and severity.
Which Syrinx products are effective for this condition? Possibly the most important measure is to reduce itchiness (pruritis), as scratching will only spread and worsen the flare-up. The Syrinx Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar will deeply cleanse the skin removing all toxins and impurities and then it’s incredible moisture giving properties will rehydrate the skin and begin the healing process.
The first step is to rinse the affected area using water that is free of mineral salts. You can use tepid water from a recently boiled kettle for this. Make a lather with the bar and wash the area, patting dry afterwards. For extra protection you can make another lather and spread it over the affected skin, leaving on all night. Rinse off in the morning and apply the Syrinx Natural Emollient Cream. Repeat the next night.
Please note that those who have very dry skin or cannot tolerate an aqueous cream should try the Syrinx Derma Protector balm instead of the Emoillient. Used sparingly on the affected area, it will penetrate the horny outer layer of the skin to leave it supple and moisturised.
Eczema affects the scalp as well, the main symptom being dandruff. For serious sufferers, our Hair and Scalp Reviver range, relieves itching and flakes and nourishes the skin maintaining a healthy scalp and hair.
Acne
What is Acne and what are the symptoms? Acne arises as a response to inflammation of the sebaceous glands around hair follicles. Sebaceous glands lubricate the hair and the skin to stop it drying out. They do this by producing an oily substance called sebum. In acne, the glands begin to produce too much sebum. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and other debris and form a plug in the follicle.
Which Syrinx products are effective for this condition? The way to treat Acne is to cleanse the affected area of sebaceous deposits and blockages and the Syrinx Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar does this very efficiently, without the use of any additional products. The presence of moisturising oils and turmeric in the bar can mean an overnight transformation in many.
Psoriasis
What is Psoriasis and what are the symptom? We grow skin cells from deep within the subcutaneous layers, which takes about 30 days from start to finish, at which point they are flattened, lacking a nucleus and form the outermost layer of horny tissue known as the stratum corneum. People who suffer from Psoriasis find that the migration of the young, developing cells is speeded up, so much so that the outer layer is populated with immature cells immersed in intercellular glue.
This build-up of cells causes scaling on the skin’s surface. Inflammation and redness around the scales is fairly common. Thick red patches develop which can crack and bleed and the itchiness can be unbearable.
There is no permanent cure for the condition but if the itching is alleviated, the body will gradually rectify and heal the affected area.
Which Syrinx products are effective for this condition? The Syrinx Deep Cleansing Therapy bar works well to relieve itching. Do not be tempted to use creams or balms. Psoriasis is best treated with gentle cleansing alone. Rinse the affected area using water that is free of mineral salts. You can use tepid water from a recently boiled kettle for this. Make a lather with the bar and wash the area, patting dry afterwards.
